Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Punchline Cards, LLC ("Punchline Cards," "we," "us" or "our") collects through punchlinecards.com (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It is part of our Terms of Use.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us when you send a card:

• your email address (for your receipt, delivery and open alerts, and your credits or pass);
• your recipient's name and, if you choose, their email address;
• the name you sign with and your personal note;
• the delivery date you pick; and
• your agreement to our Terms of Use, with the version and time.

Purchase information. We keep a record of each order: the product, the amount, the time, and whether it was paid. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Card activity. When a recipient opens a card, we record that it was opened, when, and how many times, so we can let the sender know.

Information stored in your browser. We save a random ID in your browser's local storage, which lets "My cards" show only the cards sent from that browser. We also save the email you last used, to fill in checkout for you. This information is not used for advertising, and we do not set advertising or tracking cookies. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs basic request information, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages and times of visits, for security and troubleshooting.

Information we do not collect. We do not collect your postal address, phone number or date of birth. Entering the Saucy Section requires you to confirm that you are 18 or older, but we do not collect proof of age.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• create, deliver and schedule cards, and show them to the people they were sent to;
• send receipts, delivery confirmations and "your card was opened" alerts;
• keep track of card credits and annual passes;
• provide customer support and respond to requests;
• prevent fraud and abuse and keep the Site secure; and
• comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

3. Your recipient's information

If you send a card, you give us your recipient's name and, optionally, their email address. We use it only to deliver the card and show it on their private card page. We do not add recipients to any mailing list or send them marketing. Please send cards only to people you know.

4. Who we share information with

We share personal information only with the service providers that run the Site for us, and only as needed to do so:

• Stripe processes payments (stripe.com/privacy).
• Resend delivers our emails (resend.com/legal/privacy-policy).
• Render hosts the Site and its database (render.com/privacy).
• Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry) and Google Fonts supply our typefaces. When your browser loads a font, those providers receive your IP address and basic browser information.

We may also disclose information:

• if the law requires it;
• to protect the rights, safety or property of Punchline Cards, our users or others; or
• in connection with a merger, sale or transfer of our business, in which case this Policy will continue to apply to the information transferred.

5. Private card links

Each card has a private link that is hard to guess. Anyone who has the link can view the card, so share it only with your recipient. Card pages are marked so that search engines do not index them.

6. Credits, passes and your receipt link

Card credits and annual passes belong to the email address used to buy them. They can be used from the browser that made the purchase. To use them on another device, open the private credits link in your receipt email on that device once. Keep that link private; anyone who has it can send cards using your credits.

7. Do Not Track

We do not track you across other websites or allow others to do so on our Site, so we do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

8. How long we keep information

• Orders and receipts: as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal purposes, generally up to seven years.
• Cards, notes and recipient details: as long as needed to provide the card and your "My cards" history.
• Unused credits and active passes: we keep the account information they depend on for as long as they remain usable.

We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed.

9. Your choices and rights

You may ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we have about you;
• give you a copy of it;
• correct it; or
• delete it.

Email help@punchlinecards.com from the address you used with us. We may need to confirm that the request is really from you. We will respond within 45 days. Some information may need to be kept for legal or accounting reasons. Deleting your information may also cancel unused credits or an active pass, and we will tell you before that happens.

10. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Purchases must be made by adults. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), to protect personal information. Access to customer data is limited to people who need it to run the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Visitors outside the United States

The Site is operated from the United States, and information is stored in the United States.

13. Changes to this Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and post a notice on the Site before the changes take effect. Changes apply to information collected after the new effective date.
